PENSA SHS LEADERS CONFERENCE HELD AT PENSA UEW AUDITORIUM ON
THE 31st JANUARY,2015.
To God be the glory for a successful seminar held at UEW
PENSA auditorium for PENSA SHS leaders in the Winneba zone with 7 SHS in
attendance. Some executive members of
PENSA-UEW, Philip Tetteh and Roger Amishaddai of UCC were also there to grace
the occasion.
The Travelling Secretary for the central sector Pastor
Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo started with a brief history about the birth of PENSA in
Ghana. He started by explaining that the word PENSA stands for Pentecost
Students and Associates which comprise of students who are members of the
church of Pentecost and other persons who would want to fellowship with the
church in their various institutions.
Speaking on the history, he said PENSA started in the 1980’s
by some members of the church who were then students in the various tertiary
institutions including Apostle Gyimah and Pastor Ohene Kyei who were some of
the pioneers.
He then said that PENSA is grouped into 13 sectors all over
Ghana and each sector is headed by a travelling secretary who is an ordained
pastor of the Church of Pentecost and works under the Youth Ministry of which
Pastor David Nyansah Hayfron is the current director. These travelling
secretaries could be called campus pastors because they have no district
assigned to them but solely responsible for coordinating PENSA activities under
their jurisdiction.
Central sector for example, is made up of 55 branches with a
population of 8489 members as at December 2014. There are sector heads and
zonal heads who work together with the Travelling secretary.
Also touching on the management of finances in PENSA, he
advised all SHS leaders of PENSA to avoid the habit of keeping the monies and
open a bank account where all funds may be deposited to ensure safety and avoid
mismanagement. This was necessary since all accounts will be audited by an
audit team and all persons found to mismanage funds be dealt with.
Uniformity of PENSA certificates was also discussed since it
was necessary for all institutions to stick to and comply with the certificate
that was designed by PENSA Ghana in 2011 to ensure authenticity and genuineness
of the certificates.
After various questions were asked by the Travelling
secretary on how Bible Studies is done in the various schools and the outline
being used he cautioned the leaders to use the outline that has being designed
by their zonal heads to ensure that the right doctrines of the church are being
taught to their members.
Some of the participants seated for the conference
The issue of PENSA leaders praying at awkward times, making
excessive noise whiles praying and the habit of blessing handkerchiefs, water
and other materials for members should be abolished as it goes against the
doctrines of the church.
Various issues bordering the leaders were also raised and
the TS also addressed them
In conclusion the travelling secretary Pastor Emmanuel Agyei
Kwafo advised the participants to have time for their books and were also
advised to attend the PENSA Ghana conferences which is an annual event that
brings all PENSA members both in the second cycle and tertiary institutions
together for the glorification of God.
